I was dining this evening with my wife at La Vecchia Banca, and we had a truly lovely meal. The restaurant was absolutely buzzing, as it always is, and packed with people – which says it all really. The food was splendid, as always. Beautifully cooked, full of flavour, and clearly made with care. You can tell this is a place that consistently delivers, which is why it’s always so popular. A fantastic atmosphere, great food, and a really enjoyable evening. We’ll definitely be back (again!). ”

“ Went last night for my birthday. I've been wanting to go here since it opened and had been told good things about it, so it was worth the wait! We had booked a table in advanced, wasn't sure if that was necessary but glad we did book because it was very busy when we arrived at 7pm on a Thursday evening! I think the weather helped a lot. We were seated outside, so didn't get a proper look at the interior, but the food and the service were great! The staff were very accommodating by allowing one of us to have leftovers put in a takeaway tub and when a wrong dessert turn up at our table, they were very apologetic and amended it very swiftly Will be recommending it to others and hopefully coming back in the next future? ”

“ We went here for a big wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent,the staff attentive and polite . It was full in a Tuesday night so make sure you book! Scallops and garlic bread to start followed by the fish platter . No room for a desert sadly. ”

“ It’s very rare that we leave a restaurant and continue talking about the food and the service long after the meal — but this was one of those rare occasions. Firstly, our server Marco was absolutely fantastic. He was knowledgeable, attentive without being intrusive, and clearly took pride in what he does. His understanding of both the food and drinks was exceptional — to the point that he instantly knew which brandies were available, by name, and served it exactly as it should be: in the correct glass and properly warmed. In the last five years, this is only the second place we’ve visited where that level of care and knowledge has been shown, which genuinely impressed us. The food itself was cooked perfectly and arrived in a timely manner. We were never rushed or pestered, yet Marco was always observant and seemed to know precisely when we might want another drink or anything else — a balance that’s rarely struck so well. Although we’ve been local for a little while, this was our first visit — and it certainly won’t be our last. We’re more than happy to make this our regular spot for food going forward. Highly recommended, and particularly perfect if you’re looking for a standout date-night location. ”

“ We have visited LVB many times since it opened and find it consistently excellent. Last night was no exception as we celebrated our eldest grandson’s birthday. Food was delicious - my risotto pescatore came with lots of mussels, huge prawns and calamari and was so tasty. Our grandson chose the calzone and when it arrived, he nearly fell off his chair as it was massive. Somehow he managed to finish it and loved every mouthful. We were a group of six and we sent back 6 empty plates which speaks for itself. Service was as always subtly attentive and friendly. The restaurant was quiet when we sat down at 5pm but it quickly filled up and by the time we were leaving around 6:45pm, it had its usual buzz. The finishing touch was an unexpected and substantial wedge of tiramisu for the birthday boy - beautifully done! Thank you all again for a lovely meal and a lovely evening. ”
